SCC is ranked among the top performing community colleges in the nation, and we are proud to be recognized as a U.S. Military-Friendly School.  We offer one of the largest community college adult education programs in the California where students can earn an adult high school diploma, or equivalent certificate, and/or earn one of over 60 career training certificates.

We offer a vibrant student life – championship athletic teams, student government, clubs and other leadership and enrichment opportunities such as Model United Nations and Forensics.  You will experience this and much more in a welcoming, diverse, inclusive and supportive campus environment with excellent student services.  We have created an innovative schedule of offerings that support in-person and online learning and success, and our college fosters a safe and healthy environment for education at its best.

You’ve chosen to take this next step, and our programs and services will support, encourage, and challenge you as you work toward your goals. SCC celebrates what happens here: every course, every lecture, every test, every conversation, and every achievement.

Positions at Santiago Canyon College that are considered academic are faculty, counselors, librarians, psychologists, deans and other administrative positions that supervise instructional or student services areas.

Classified positions are non-teaching positions, include clerical and secretarial support staff, custodians, instructional assistants, non academic coordinators and specialists, technicians, accountants, supervisory, confidential and some administrative positions.

Once the International Student Program receives and approves all admission documents, an Admission Letter and, if applicable, Form I-20 will be emailed after 2-3 business days.

If you are transferring from another U.S. school: you will only receive an Admission Letter. After receiving your admission letter, you are responsible for contacting your current school and submitting a written request to transfer your SEVIS record to SCC. After our office receives your transferred SEVIS record, it will be between 5-7 days to receive the newly updated Form I-20.

  • International Students must be at least 16 years of age by the first day of classes.
  • Applicants under the age of 18 years old must provide proof of high school completion.

Applicants unable to meet the minimum English proficiency requirements may enroll in our English Language Program. Our English Language Program (ELP) is an intensive English language training program. It is a full-time academic program designed to sharpen your academic English in preparation for study at U.S. colleges and universities. This program is suitable for students who have some knowledge of English. ELP is offered every Fall and Spring semester and offers a pathway to SCC’s college credit courses.

you are an international student not currently in California, we recommend calling 714-628-4800 to schedule an appointment with the International Student Counselor, Maria Chaidez. When scheduling, be ready with your SCC ID number and mention you are an international student; this will help Counseling know which counselor to book you an appointment with.

Admitted students who wishes to change majors must contact the international students office.  Student will have to meet with an academic counselor to update his/her educational plan.  It is recommended that students wishing to switch majors, schedule a meeting with an academic counselor at least six weeks prior the end of the semester.

We recommend starting with an email. When writing an email, provide your name and any important details relating to your request/question. This could include: course name, section number, the semester, your student ID number, self-service login, etc. Providing this information in the beginning will help prevent multiple emails causing delayed communication.

If an instructor has office hours, you should be able to find that information on the course syllabus. Office hours are for you to utilize and to have a direct connection with your instructor.

To make sure you are maintaining your F-1 status, always speak with your Designated School Official (DSO) before dropping any courses! This is very important because students must be enrolled full-time in order to receive approval to drop below full-time. Additionally, a DSO will take into consideration many factors and options and advise appropriately based off your specific situation.
